“I am the light of the world.” Jn. 9:1-41.

The story of the man born blind is a progressive path of light. Jesus restores sight to the blind man, but the true miracle is not only physical, because man goes from not knowing who Jesus is, to recognizing him as a prophet and finally to believing in him as Lord. Meanwhile, the Pharisees, who believe themselves to be seers, are becoming more and more blind because of their smugness.

This Gospel reveals a strong paradox; those who recognize their blindness can see; Whoever thinks he is sure to see, remains in the dark.

Jesus goes out to meet those who are expelled and marginalized and confirms them in their faith. This is how God acts: He enlightens, liberates and accompanies, even if that implies conflict. What blindness do we need to be cured of? Do we allow ourselves to be enlightened by Jesus or do we defend securities that prevent us from seeing?
