“It is worth preparing the land and waiting.” Mk. 4:26-34

From the beginning of his ministry, Jesus knew that the Kingdom of God that He announced moved within another logic. In the parables He found a way to initiate the disciples and the crowd into this logic of God. The parable of the seed highlights the contrast between the patient waiting of the sower and the growth that the seed carries out alone, without the intervention of the farmer and without him knowing how. Life is not only work and productivity, but a gift from God that we must welcome with a grateful heart. Being human implies learning to live not only from action, but also from contemplation. This gratuitous attitude is a way of preparing the earth and waiting, without knowing how long it will take to see what sprouts from the seeds, as Marcela Bonafede odn says, in her song “Seeds and dreams”. Let us reread the parable and pray with it.
