Amagá
AMAGÁ INSERTION COMMUNITY
It began by knowing this culture, defining programs, adjusting projects and activities, to encourage, accompany, and offer people alternatives that contribute to their personal growth and to find in Jesus Christ the meaning of their life.
It is a mining and peasant village, where mining culture predominates, marked by the hardness of work in coal mines and familiar with their own risks.
An apostolic work that does not depend solely on the parish and that allows the accompaniment to the people. We want to proclaim Jesus and his kingdom of brothers, sisters, and children of the same father through commitment to an apostolic project, which marks the characteristics of a coherent and frternal community life in the midst of the poor. One of the means has been the workshop “Strategies to humanize life at the pace of the Gospel” (Card elaborated by the nuns celebrating the fifteen years of presence in Amagá), where the value of everyday life is discovered as the privileged place of the revelation of the God of Jesus.
We work with young people in two ways: a direct collaboration in the College of Amagá and in the Lyceum of the Vereda la Ferrería. Our work is carried our in the neighborhoods, together with the Youth Vocational Ministry of the Province and with the ASI (Integrated Social Action) Program of the school of the Company of Mary in Medellin. We are a training insertion community, which does Vocational Youth Ministry.
The apostolic dimension of this work is expressed in four mission projects, through which we evangelize and allow ourselves to be evangelized by the people from the town and the sidewalks of Amagá.
- Collaboration in parish animation
- Promotion of women
- Educational pastoral care towards vocational youth ministry
- Accompaniment to a group of laity of the Company of Mary.
