“All who suffered from anything were pushing forward to touch him.” Mk. 3:7-12

After the successive conflicts that Jesus had with those responsible for religion, Mark shows us the crowd that wanted to see him and be with him, to the point of crushing him. What did Jesus do to have so much appeal? He cared for all kinds of marginalized and excluded people. Some became his followers, the sick were healed and the possessed were freed. For Jesus, the ultimate thing was not religion or its observances, but kindness to everyone,  regardless of their behavior, religion, or culture. This summary of Jesus’ mission reminds us that his followers must be, above all, very human people. This is a call to examine the “Christian humanism” of our mission.
