SAINTS JOACHIM AND ANNE, PARENTS OF THE VIRGIN MARY. Matthew 13:16-17

Jesus invites us to remain always listening to his Word, in the silence of prayer, to accept it with generous availability and to have the deep desire to give our lives to him, just as his Mother did.

Of Holy Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, we can say that she lived by the Word of God, that she spoke with the words of God, that her thoughts were the thoughts of God. Since she was totally penetrated by the Word of God, she was the Mother of the Word of God made Man. Mary is truly a person who, from within her heart, listens and is deeply knowledgeable  of Scripture. That is, not only did she know some texts of Scripture, but she was so identified with the Word that in her heart and on her lips the words of the Old Testament are transformed, synthesized, into the song of the Magnificat.
