HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY.  Ps. 8;  Rom. 5:1-5; Jn. 16:12-15

Today’s texts overflow in praise of the Lord for his works. They are an invitation to discover the loving mark that He has left on his creatures, especially on man. Psalm 8 is a poem that sings in wonder of the work of the Creator, where man, a small creature, has been crowned with glory and has received power over creation.

Paul reviews history and recalls that this privileged creature has turned away from his Creator, but has been rescued with the sacrifice of the Son of God himself. And he adds: “One can give one’s life for an innocent person, but only Jesus gave his life to save man immersed in the mud of sin”. And even more: He gives him his Spirit, to bring him to the knowledge of God himself. Today’s feast invites us to contemplate with awe the greatness and infinite love of God for us. Let us say with the psalmist, “Lord, our Lord, how wonderful is your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8).
