April 21.  “Go and tell my disciples to go into Galilee, where they will see me.”  Mt. 28:6-15

On this Monday after Easter, the Gospel presents us with the passage of the women who, on going to the tomb of Jesus, find it empty and see an angel who announces to them that Jesus is risen. And while they are running to tell the disciples, they meet Jesus himself who tells them: “Go and tell my disciples to go to Galilee: there they will see me.” Galilee is the “periphery” where the disciples’ first encounter with Jesus took place, the place where Jesus began his preaching. From there, Jesus wants the Gospel of the Resurrection to begin anew, so that it may be proclaimed to all, and each one may encounter him, the Risen One, present and active in history. What does this return to Galilee mean for each of us today? What was the place of our first encounter with Him? He invites us to relive that moment in the light of the Resurrection.
