Wednesday 13

“Stand up and go, your faith has saved you.” Lk. 17:11-19

Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem. Ten lepers come to meet him, who from afar ask to be healed: “Jesus, master, have mercy on us.” When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and present yourselves to the priests.” As they went, they were healed. One of them, seeing himself healed, came back, glorifying God in a loud voice.” He prostrated himself on the ground and gave thanks. He was a Samaritan. This is the attitude of humility of every Christian, who recognizes himself as fragile, but welcomed in the Lord’s compassion. Jesus asks: What happened to the other nine? Only one was healed? The Church will be more and more a healing Church when it is a more glorifying and Eucharistic Church. It is the way of salvation: it is always and on every occasion worthy to give thanks to God and praise him”. (Bernard Haring)
