“Blessed are those who believe without having seen.” Jn. 20:24-29
In a camouflaged, disguised, hypocritical society; It is hard to trust anyone. There is an increasing effort to ensure that security is mediated by the security forces, by groups outside the law, by television cameras and not by the conscience of the people.
It is paradoxical that it is generally the most vulnerable and wounded people who face life with the greatest confidence.
Thomas, one of the disciples, had, like today’s scientists, the tendency to believe only what he could verify for himself. This is why Jesus, knowing his heart, appears to him and asks him to put his hand in the wound in his side and he, seeing it, believed.
May Thomas’ experience teach us to believe in what we have not seen. Life is not just reduced to our limited ability to see, feel, and experience because life is so much more than we can imagine and does not need us to manifest itself. God is always making himself present and relevant.
