Discovering Jesus in everyday life.
We can think and pray about the event about which the Acts of the Apostles tells us today: (Peter and John heal a cripple). We admire the conviction and courage of the apostles, those same ones who were so slow to understand and cowardly to act, and now are transformed into witnesses of the first hour, thanks to the Spirit that the Risen Jesus communicates to them. This will happen to us also if we open ourselves to his action. Let us pray for that grace.
If you prefer, you can take the Gospel. The apparitions of Jesus take place within the framework of everyday life. Today’s event, Fishing and Enjoying Breakfast on the shore of Lake Tiberias, is full of details. A good opportunity for contemplation in the style of St. Ignatius: to get into the scene, “as if I were present”: to contemplate the place, what the characters do, what they say, how the scene begins and ends… and to look especially at Jesus… If you were there on the beach, at that dawn, how would you react? …Come and receive the bread and fish from the hands of Jesus… Do you have any words for Him?
