“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord” Lk. 1:46-56
Today’s Gospel invites us to make Mary’s song our own, to allow ourselves to be guided by her spirit, for in the “Magnificat” the faith of Our Lady is expressed in all its splendor.
Mary begins by proclaiming the greatness of God: “… My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior, because He has seen the humble state of his handmaid.” Mary is happy because God has set his gaze on her littleness. With her song, she expresses to us that God puts his power at the service of compassion. His mercy accompanies all generations. Mary captures the tenderness of God the Father and Mother like no one else and introduces us to the core of Jesus’ message: God is compassionate love. It is the God who exalts the humble, the one who fills the hungry. Definitely. Mary invites us to welcome the Good News of Jesus, our God is the God of the poor. From this experience, let us work for a more fraternal and just world, trusting in the Father God of the little ones.
