“The sower went out to sow.” Matthew 13:1-23.
The parable of the sower is an invitation to sow with hope. The sowing of the Gospel at many times has setbacks, oppositions, frustrations; but this cannot be a cause for discouragement; on the contrary, we are called to sow his Word anywhere, where we see possible ground, where there is hope of growth. That is how Jesus was, He sowed gestures of kindness and mercy even in the most inhospitable environments. “Jesus sowed with the realism and confidence of a sower from Galilee.” Everyone knew that the sowing would be spoiled in more than one place in those unequal lands. That is why it did not discourage, no farmer stopped planting” (Pagola). To be a sower Church in the style of Jesus, is not to reap successes, to dominate societies, to fill Churches, what we need is sowers, followers of Jesus who sow compassion.
