The Gospels of these days reiterate the Lord’s call to follow him with total availability and to give without fear all that has been received from him. We live in a culture of fear, but the Lord guarantees us all his support and accompaniment. “My Father’s Spirit will be with you.” There are many fears that make people suffer in secret. Fear hurts and produces a lot of damage. Where fear grows, God is lost sight of and the goodness in people’s hearts is drowned. Life is extinguished; joy disappears. “If God cares so tenderly for the sparrows of the field, the smallest birds of Galilee, how can He not take care of you?” (Pagola).
