Monday, June 29, 2026       Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul

Monday, June 29, 2026       Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul

Mt. 16:13-19 “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.

This is Peter’s answer to Jesus’ question: “And who do you say that I am?” But Jesus tells Peter that this answer, which is correct, is not the fruit of his intelligence but of a revelation on the part of God the Father. As we celebrate today this feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul, on whose witness our faith is based, we could ask ourselves in all sincerity: And what can I say, who is Jesus to me? How did I come to form that image, that concept, of Jesus? What experience do I have of Him? Let us also remember what Pope Benedict XVI so wisely told us in his first Encyclical: “One does not begin to be a Christian by an ethical decision, or by a great idea, but by the encounter with an event, with a person, which gives a new horizon to life and with it a definitive orientation.”
