“They were all unanimous in prayer, together with some women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with their brethren.” Acts 1:12-14
Today, in the celebration that we commemorate as a Church, the liturgy reminds us that after the Ascension, the apostles, the disciples of Jesus, were with Mary in permanent prayer. The Gospel also suggests that we let ourselves be enlightened by the encounter between the angel and Mary at the moment of the Annunciation. In short, today’s liturgy presents us with Mary praying. Praying when she is curious to know how what the angel is saying to her is going to happen. Praying with a joyful and grateful heart, praising God because He notices smallness. Praying after her son has ascended to heaven with the promise that He will send the Spirit who will clarify everything. Mary teaches us by her example that prayer is always necessary, in all moments of life. Today, in the midst of what reality do I present myself to the Lord?
