“I do not say to you to forgive up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” Mt. 18:21-35

Peter asks Jesus about the limit of forgiveness, looking for a clear rule, but the answer breaks any mathematical calculation: forgiveness has no limits because God’s love does not have limits either. The parable of the servant without kindness shows us the incoherence of receiving God’s infinite mercy and, at the same time, of denying forgiveness to our brothers and sisters for small debts. Today, what grudges do we hold that prevent us from living with freedom and peace? We are immensely forgiven by God, so let us ask him to help us discover: to whom do we need to grant our unconditional forgiveness? Wherever we are, are we bearers of the mercy that heals wounds?
