“Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will not both fall into the pit?” Lk. 6:39-42
Jesus invites us to a profound review of our attitudes before trying to correct our brothers and sisters. Often, it is very easy to see the splinter in the eye of others and criticize the weaknesses of others, forgetting the beam of our own defects and blindness. The true guide is the one who first allows himself to be enlightened by God’s love and mercy, recognizing his own frailty. Today what hasty judgments prevent us from looking at others with true compassion? Are we able to lead from humility and not from pride? With the light of the Holy Spirit, we can see more clearly. Let us ask him to help us discover what we need to change first in our hearts, before we want to correct others.
