Saint Charles Borromeo, Bishop

“The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.” John 10:11-16

Today’s Gospel presents Jesus to us as the good shepherd, who loves his sheep, hence his mission to be light, way, guide, route, protector, ready to defend them to the point of giving his life for his sheep. Let us allow this image of Jesus to make us reflect on our responsibilities and commitments in the family, at work, in the neighborhood, in my community, in my locality… What interests move me? Personal or common interests? Do I easily commit myself to a just cause, seeking the common good more than the personal? Finally, how would you describe me as a shepherd, a hireling or a wolf?
