Commemoration of All Faithful Departed
“I am the Resurrection and the life.” John 11:17-27
On this day in which we remember our deceased brothers and sisters, Jesus reminds us that He is the Resurrection and life; everyone who believes in Him, even if they die, will live. By our faith, we fully trust that Jesus lived and died to give us eternal life. Jesus asks Martha, Do you believe this? Today, Jesus asks you: Do you believe this? We are all called to believe in the Resurrection, to believe in Jesus, even if we are naturally pained by the departure of a loved one, just as Jesus also felt at the death of his friend Lazarus. We are called to transcend, to go beyond death and believe in the Resurrection.
