“I cast out demons with the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.” Lk. 11:15-26
The Gospel tells us that some of Jesus’ contemporaries, those who had the great joy of seeing him in person, did not believe that He came from the Father. Today He presents us with the slander they make of Jesus by saying that it is by the art of the prince of demons that He casts out the demons themselves. Jesus, in order to make known to them their illogical reasoning, tries to explain to them that, instead of arguing irrationally, they should rather rejoice because that is a sign that the kingdom of God has already arrived. In the light of the liturgy that the Church proposes to us today, we could ask the Lord to help us to be able to recognize those situations in which we discover that the Kingdom of God has come to us, so that we can be aware of his presence on this day and have the courage to be grateful that He is still with us.
