“Which of these three do you think has been the neighbor of the one who fell into the hands of the robbers?” Lk. 10:25-37

Today’s Gospel tells us about the dialogue between Jesus and a teacher of the law. More than the dialogue, it is the teaching that the evangelist wants to transmit to us based on the question of who is the neighbor? We can note that, although the teacher of the law could want to justify himself by not being clear about who his neighbor is, Jesus leaves the space for the answer not to be learned, but internalized. Jesus is a true teacher. He knows that if the answer is memorized, it will soon be forgotten. On the other hand, if the answer is conscious, from one’s own logic, the teaching will remain for a long time. That is why He returns the question to the one who initially asked it: who do you think has been a neighbor? Such a teaching is so profound that it has reached our days. The question to which today’s Gospel could be inviting us is: To whom am I being a neighbor today?
