“When they saw what Jesus had done, they believed in Him.” Jn. 11:45-57.
After the sign of Lazarus’ resurrection, the Gospel shows us two opposite reactions: some believe in Jesus when they see what He has done to Lazarus, others decide to eliminate him. The miracle that gives life becomes, paradoxically, the reason for planning death.  The problem is not Jesus, but what his presence provokes. Caiaphas, without knowing it, enunciates a prophecy: “It is fitting that one should die for the people.” In his political logic it is a cold calculation; in God’s Plan, it is the announcement of a surrender that will bring salvation. Believing in Jesus implies accepting changes, renunciations, even risks. Sometimes, like the leaders, we prefer to “keep the peace” by sacrificing the truth. What do we do when Jesus disrupts our plans?
