Saint John, apostle and evangelist
“…He who had come first to the tomb, and saw what had happened, and believed.” John 20, 2-8
The liturgy transports us to the paschal mystery and through this beloved disciple, we connect the joy of the Birth of Jesus in Bethlehem with the joy of his Resurrection in Jerusalem. Both moments—the manger and the empty tomb—contain the complete mystery of our salvation: God who becomes fragile to accompany us, and who conquers death to give us eternal life. Like Juan, we are also privileged witnesses of this truth that transforms history. We too are invited to be witnesses of that joy that springs from the encounter with the Risen Lord. Let us internally taste the mystery of Jesus, recognize his passage through our lives and let his Salvation renew our hearts. How do we live Easter joy this Christmas, the hope that light conquers all darkness?
