“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” Matthew 8, 5-11.
In this first week of Advent, the Gospel invites us to prepare for the arrival of the Messiah for whom we are waiting. It reveals to us that God the Father is close to all, that He offers us confidence; that He listens and responds from His logic; it reveals that He is surprised by the generosity and faith of human beings. Jesus observes and values the attitude of the centurion in not allowing him to go to his house, it is an attitude of humility and absolute certainty that by simply giving the order, his daughter will be healed. Let us ask ourselves: What is our personal relationship with the Lord like? How does it help us grow in confidence? What does the centurion’s testimony encourage us to do?
