“Whoever tries to preserve his life will lose it.” Lk. 17:26-37
Jesus makes us aware of the meaning of the Kingdom of God by being connected to the spiritual life, but also by properly valuing the material. As integral beings and today more than ever, we need to drink from sources of life that strengthen and encourage our hope, because the hedonistic society encourages us to sustain happiness in buying and buying, leaving a trail of emptiness and without meaning of life. Jesus takes us back to the Old Testament, in the time of Noah and Lot who lived situations of attachment to the pleasures of this world. Likewise today, we must look at the fundamentals, be vigilant, weigh life in the values of the Gospel, radical love for those excluded from the Kingdom. Only life given for love is the one that generates satisfaction and fulfillment because all other paths can promise fleeting happiness and lead to numbness and lack of concern.
What is our faith response, in the face of a world so absorbed by the ephemeral?
