“Jesus lifted up his eyes to his disciples and said to them…” Lk. 6:20-26
Through the Gospel we realize that Jesus had a very close relationship with his disciples because they followed him and shared life with him. The passage we read today tells us about the moment when Jesus proclaims the “Beatitudes” to them and tells us about a gesture He makes when He begins to speak; Jesus looks at his disciples as if He were going to tell his friends something very important and of which they are a part. We can also feel today’s gaze that makes us part of his message, of his invitation, that knows us and reminds us that we are precious to him. As we pray today with the Beatitudes, let us reflect: which one resonates with us in a special way at this moment in our lives?
