Seventh Week in Ordinary Time

“What were they arguing about along the way?” Mk. 9:30-37

Jesus seeks to be alone with his disciples to instruct them about his passion, death and resurrection, a subject that they could not assimilate or understand, possibly they would ask: how could God who is his Father allow it? That is why they do not even grieve for what Jesus may be feeling. It is not easy to understand God’s logic and Jesus understands it that way. The disciples were still immersed in human ambitions; hence they were arguing over who would be the most important. The love of Jesus is supremely great, so He teaches them that they must change their logic of life: to choose humility, to become servants of others, to welcome smallness, purity of heart, fragility and full trust in the Father, only in this way will they be able to be like him.
