Today’s text highlights the signs that allow us to distinguish the Messiah and that are an expression of God’s action. We see Jesus ascending the mountain, where He heals the crippled, the blind, the injured, the deaf and dumb, and many others. He sympathizes with the needs of the people.
Jesus understands the hunger of the people who follow him and invites the disciples to share what they have. Thus, seven loaves and two fishes generously offered are the eloquent sign of God’s desire for the world, that there be no hunger, that everyone may have what is necessary for a dignified life. That should be the concern of every follower of Jesus.
In a world full of inequalities, let us ask God to have sentiments of mercy that move us to share what we have in order to perform the miracle of a more dignified life for all.
