POPULAR EDUCATION IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF EL BOSQUE, BARRANQUILLA

It is an evangelizing educational project at the level of formal education in the school and non-formal Education in the Parish and the Neighborhood in general. We work with youth, children, women and families at the level of different groups. The school is intended to be a platform of integral development in the neighborhood, explaining in all areas the proclamation of Jesus and the inspiring presence of Mary Our Lady.

Some of the achievements of this program:

• Its inhabitants give an account for the processes carried out, individually and communally, over time. They are autonomous beings, able to occupy a place, placing themselves at the center of their own world and at the same time feeling dependent and linked to a collective entity. They are affected by the matters in which they participate, assuming them as their own.
• They have associative capacity and demonstrate a high sense of identity, a sense of belonging to this community, a desired purpose and orientation toward the future, common aspirations and needs, which are rooted in culture and social interactions. There is also a creative capacity to direct processes for the common benefit that generates well-being.
• They are seen making more logical, beneficial and precise decisions that can go in the direction of a self-development. The critical dimension of their idiosyncrasies can accomplish  organizational processes of great potential from the point of view of popular wisdom,
• The religious experience of this community is a characteristic that has been sustained over time: The intimate connection of participatory, cultural and religious processes expresses what the integration between faith and life means, the awareness between political and social reality, and the reality of God in history. Their popular religiosity is for us not only the object of evangelization, but also an actively evangelizing force. (Cf. Doc. Puebla 396)
• They live values of solidarity, understanding, inclusion and bonds that produce joy and well-being.
