“Do you know me, and do you know where I come from?” Jn. 7:1-2. 10. 25-30.
We find Jesus moving in a climate of tension and suspicion. Many know him, they think they know where He comes from, but precisely that “knowledge” becomes an obstacle to truly recognizing him. They confuse information with faith. What we need is not only to know facts about Jesus, but to know him internally in order to love him more and to follow him more closely. Those who close themselves off in their certainties end up not recognizing God’s presence when they pass in front of him. Do we think we already know Jesus and, therefore, stop listening to him? Do we open ourselves to the new things that God wants to do in our lives? Following Jesus requires a humble faith, capable of being surprised and of recognizing that God is always greater than our plans.
