Christian life, like human life, is a constant struggle. Lk.12:49-53

Jesus spoke at times in enigmatic phrases, to his listeners and also to us. It is not easy to decipher them in all their mystery. The fire of which He speaks is not the fire that destroys, but the fire that purifies. The Baptism of which He speaks was that of immersing oneself in the waters of terrible trials… those that He saw coming for Him…   And he had already warned that He did not give us peace as the world does… What peace do we seek? When we say “leave me alone,” are we manifesting a passive attitude that would indicate that we have no interest in getting into trouble? This would be fleeing from life itself, because life is a struggle, we know that very well. The peace of Jesus would be internal harmony, which can only be achieved when we are what we have to be: men and women for God and for others. That is being authentic. Fighting against the parts of my being that lead me to selfishness is an important task for the human being and something that we must ask for in prayer.
