All Saints’ Day
“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.” Mt. 5:1-12a
Today we honor the memory of men and women who, for their witness of life, have been recognized saints by the Church; although, with certainty, we can say that many more have also received in heaven, a great reward for their witness of humility, service and love of neighbor. Jesus reminds us that we are all called to be saints: to take up their life project, expressed in the sermon of the Beatitudes: fidelity to the Father, meekness of heart, sensitivity to the needs of others, humility, mercy, purity of heart… This is how Jesus gave his own life for our salvation, making the Kingdom of God visible. What is my life project? What witness do I give through my attitudes and actions?
