“If he apologizes seven times saying ”I’m sorry”, forgive him.” Lk. 17:1-6
In today’s Gospel, Jesus traces an ethical route for us to live our relationships with others; the first in relation to the youngest, those who did not count in Jewish society; And he warns: “Oh to those who scandalize them.” Parents and educators have a great mission today, in the care of children, not only in the responsibility of showing them tender love but also in creating safe zones that protect them from so much evil that lacerates the life and dignity of children. We are also called to go beyond mercy to forgiveness: “Forgive up to seven times” those who have caused offences. The solidity of a Christian is tested in the ability to forgive because only a mature faith, commanded by God moves us to revisit, to mend, and to heal wounds. Let us think, with what gestures do we lavish attention and care to children? Who should we approach today to forgive?
