Lk. 10:1-9: First say: “Peace to this house.”

By sending out the seventy-two disciples, Jesus makes it clear that the mission is not only for a select group, but that the Good News is meant to be spread widely, and that is why many are sent. The number “72” evokes all the nations known at that time (Gen. 10), which indicates the universality of the mission. Jesus sends them out two by two, reminding us that evangelization is not an individual task, but one to be done in community. Mutual witness strengthens and gives credibility to the proclamation.

The Gospel always begins by offering peace, reconciliation, and harmony. Mission is not an imposition, but a free gift. The central message is peace and the proximity of the Kingdom. Evangelizing is not only preaching, but also healing wounds, accompanying, giving hope and, above all, giving PEACE.
