Saint Jerome

“Abide in what you have learned and have been entrusted with, knowing from whom you learned it…” 2 Tim. 3:14-17

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Jerome, a key man in the history of the Holy Scriptures. He dedicated himself in his life to make it possible for the Scriptures to be better understood and that was a great step for the Bible to eventually come into our hands. We thank the Lord for his life, for his work, and we also ask him to help us fall more and more in love with that word that is life, that illuminates our way, a word that is entrusted to us so that we can make it life and, in this way, proclaim the Kingdom of God. St. Paul recommends to Timothy that he abide in what he has learned and has been entrusted to him and know from whom he learned it. Let us remember today those who have helped us to improve our relationship with the word of God, who, with their lives and their faith, have inspired us to draw closer to God.
