“My mother and my brothers are…those who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” Lk. 8:19-21
We begin this month by remembering that as a Church we give special importance to the Word of God. This is thanks to Saint Jerome, who made his great contribution so that we have access to it today. Today’s Gospel passage speaks to us precisely of this relationship between listening to the word of God and life. Jesus links those who listen to and live the word of God with his family, he makes them close to his heart. Listening is an action that is sometimes difficult to carry out because it requires time and attention, two elements that are valuable in our contemporary society. Let us ask the Lord to teach us to listen to his Word so that we can live according to what He transmits to us through it, that our ears and our hearts may be attentive to his voice.
