“Do not neglect the gift you possess.” (1 Tim. 4:12-16)

In today’s first reading, we find a series of recommendations that St. Paul makes to Timothy, a young brother. Among the recommendations, he says very especially: “do not neglect the gift you possess”, and here are two keys that it is important to underline. The first is to care for the gift received, which you value and for which you feel responsible. Your care of the gift will be proportional to the love you feel for the gift received. The second key is the gift…the gift itself. Generally, we receive freely the gifts that are given freely. They are not an imposition; they are gifts given out of love. Let us become aware, from introspection, asking ourselves: what is the gift that we possess as a gift from God that makes us be ourselves? Which is the gift that we must really treasure?
