“There are many called, but few are chosen.” Mt. 22:1-14

Jesus continues to speak in parables. Let us prepare ourselves to welcome the one that today’s Gospel brings us. The parable of The Wedding Banquet expresses the relationship between the Lord and His guests. Among the former, there are some who exclude themselves for personal interests of power. The latter, bad and good, are at the crossroads. The room that had been prepared is filled with these new diners who at first had not been included. In the background, Jesus with this parable is speaking of the chosen people and of those who were not part of them. However, for the latter, “the festive dress” is also required: a lifestyle that puts into practice the teachings of Jesus. The word of God speaks today of us, the Gentiles, invited in the second instance, and who have responded because we have felt called from our Baptism. What do we do to remain among the elect?
