A symbol of Jesus’ humanity. Mt.19:13-15

This story of Jesus with the children makes clear to us the value that those children that the disciples do not appreciate have for Jesus. There is no doubt that Jesus valued children because they were fully persons, human beings. But beyond that, the stories with the children focus more on them as a symbol of the attitude that anyone who aspires to enter the Kingdom should have. Adults must recover the qualities that are natural in children: simplicity, joy, confidence, spontaneity, the capacity for admiration… Jesus takes the opportunity to emphasize once again the preference that those who become like children have in the Kingdom of Heaven. Let us pray today trustingly for simplicity and humility, as a free gift from God, which bring us closer to Him and to our brothers and sisters.
