THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN SEEMS LIKE A TREASURE… Matthew 13:44-46

In today’s Gospel, once again, Jesus speaks of the kingdom of Heaven, or the kingdom of God…. It is curious how Jesus always uses parables to speak of the kingdom of God: a present and hidden reality, but once discovered, it profoundly changes the life of the person: he sells everything, leaves everything for the treasure discovered or the pearl of great price.

The coming or discovery of the kingdom of God calls for a profound change. On the one hand, it is a matter of allowing oneself to be transformed and, on the other, of a personal decision to build life as God wants it. Jesus proposes to us a lifestyle in harmony with God’s will.

It is a personal conversion that does not remain in the individual, but leads to a new way of living and behaving in the family, with neighbors, at work, in the community, in society.
