Seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Gregory of Narek, Abbot and Doctor of the Church

“The Radicality of the Gospel” Mk. 9:41-50

In Mark’s gospel, Jesus continues to instruct the disciples about the value of actions and their consequences. He tells them: if anyone has a gesture of charity, no matter how small, he will have his reward. But in the face of sin, especially those that scandalize and lead others away from God, the warning is great, for there will be no compassion for them. Today we witness in our world scandals within the Church, religious communities, parents, society itself, violating human rights, especially the dignity of the smallest and most fragile. What to do? Jesus in the end recommends keeping the salt functional in our life, living in peace, in other words, it is to keep love alive, not to lose the small details that intertwine us and give us peace, such as forgiveness and reconciliation.
