Friday 4    Luke 10:13-16

“If the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you,…”

Today the Gospel invites us to listen to Jesus’ sorrow at the inability of some cities to welcome the message of the Good News. Hence. He says: “Woe to thee Capernaum, woe unto thee Bethsaida!”; two cities that at other times appear in the Gospel as places where Jesus comes to heal, to heal, to preach, but no matter how much they have seen wonderful things, their lack of faith has prevented them from appreciating and understanding them. Jesus, amazed and disappointed, predicts what will become of them in the end. He reproaches them: if in Tyre and Sidon, pagan cities, what has been done in you would have been done in them, surely, they would have repented, Let us value today the great things that the Lord has done and does every day in us and see how we have reciprocated! May Mary, who knew how to humbly welcome the great things that the Lord did in her, help us today to keep all this in our hearts.
