Wednesday 2    Luke 9:57-62

I will follow you wherever you go.

Jesus continues to attract many. It was a multitude that gathered where He was or where they knew He would come. But when that attraction turns into a desire to follow him, Jesus himself takes it upon himself to make those who seek him see what it means to follow him. It is a matter of accepting his path of poverty, his readiness to proclaim the Kingdom above any other commitment, his determination to always go forward without looking back. It is not easy, from human logic, to accept these conditions because our instinctive search for security leads us rather to be content with doing good in our own way, without risking following a path that we do not know where it will lead us. Do we dare to say to Jesus today: “I will follow you wherever you go”?
