“I am not worthy that you should enter my house.” (Luke 7:1-10)
Luke presents us in today’s Gospel with the faith of a Roman centurion, who only had to hear about Jesus to believe in Him, to recognize Him as the Son of God. In spite of having been some elders of the Jews, who mediated before Jesus justifying compensation for the centurial for help received, it is the centurion himself, who moves Jesus by his humble attitude, which makes him feel unworthy of Jesus entering his house, where his sick servant is. Considering himself unworthy to look Jesus in the eye, and with full trust in Him as the Son of God, the centurion knew that one word was enough for his servant to heal… and so it was. Jesus is really amazed at this man, because He had not found such great faith in Israel. How great is my faith?
